Advanced Practice Physiotherapist

Job Overview:

Vita Health Group Musculoskeletal Clinical Assessment & Treatment service (MCATS)

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic MSK clinician to join our team of experienced musculoskeletal advanced practice physiotherapists and Sports and Exercise Medicine consultant, working as part of our established MCAT service. MCATS is provided as part of an overall Musculoskeletal Pathway to effectively screen patients so they can be seen by the right clinician/service at the right time.

 

Role Overview:

As an advanced practice physiotherapist, you will be part of the MCATS team delivering high quality, evidenced based care within our NHS MSK services in South London. You will carry out MCATS clinics across Vita Health Groups South London NHS MSK contracts.

Clinical responsibilities will include virtual triage, face-to-face appointments, MDT working, Health Coaching for shared decision making and making every contact count, requesting diagnostics, injecting, diagnostic ultrasound and prescribing as appropriate.

Our APPs within the MCATS work in conjunction with a team of Physiotherapists and Rehab Therapists, supporting their training and development within the wider service.

Training and support will be provided in the form of in-service training, monthly group sessions and quarterly APP specific development training. All members of our team have regular meetings with their team leaders, focusing on Performance, Wellbeing and Personal Development.

APPs will have the opportunity to apply for support and funding for post-graduate qualifications in injecting therapy, diagnostic ultrasound, and independent prescribing depending on service needs.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • HCPC and CSP Registration
  • MSK Experience equivalent to Band 7
  • Able to demonstrate experience of working in a triage clinic, delivering excellent assessment and management plans for a diverse and complex MSK caseload
  • Possess a good working knowledge of imaging, investigations, and blood tests
  • Experience with MDT working and making direct referrals to secondary care services including Trauma & Orthopaedics, Rheumatology
  • Be computer literate and highly organised and efficient in running your clinics
  • An awareness of and commitment to supporting and facilitating diversity and inclusion
  • Be willing to develop and enhance your clinical skills with training for US guided injections, FCP roles etc.
  • IRMER Trained

Desirable:

  • Injection therapy
  • Ultrasonography (PG cert or equivalent)
  • Independent prescribing
  • Willingness to train in the above
