As role holder you will report to the Head of IT and engage with MI teams in a matrix fashion across the business for a and growing health care business who is passionate about improving, using, and making the most of its data as a key asset to inform decision making in positively effecting health care across mental and musculoskeletal health services.
Job Detail - Power BI Lead Developer
As role holder you will importantly work across business units on a multi-disciplined team to review, develop and improve data solutions and BI tools utilised by the business and contribute towards VHG data and analytics strategy and improvement plan.
You will have a strong data and MI dashboard background, including Several years’ experience in an MI/BI or analytical role producing reports via Power BI and other data/MI reporting tools.
You will take the lead in designing and enabling data ingestion, pipelines, quality and integration services within on-premises and cloud-based deployments (Azure). This
You will lead on enabling the production of power-BI dashboards to provide insight into crucial performance and key indicators on VHGs health care and key business information across the business.
You will be passionate around automated reporting and data standards and will take pride and enthusiasm in maintaining and enabling the Power BI data lake, environments, and availability of reporting dashboards.
You will be opportunity driven and play a key, central role in collaborating and delivering data and semantic models for data warehouses, data marts and other analytical store.
You will also provide thought, problem, and solution leadership across the business at leadership level and when mentoring the BI team leading on the production of BI and MI dashboards.
You will have several years, or relevant experience evidenced in a solid capability to use Power BI having produced from a range of;
- Business performance tracking
- Financial reporting
- Contact centre performance
- Operational performance
- Large corporate customer account performance
- IT Service Management Reporting
- Clinical/Governance reporting
You will hold excellent applied experience such as one or more of:
- Data modelling and visualization
- Reusable Data Modelling & Optimisation
- Security concepts and principles of secure data
You will hold excellent applied experience, such as one or more of:
- Putting controls and measure in place to improve data quality.
- Inheriting, reviewing and/or produced data models, schemas, and structures logically and translate them into automated BI reports
You will hold excellent applied experience demonstrate you can take the lead on core Power BI competencies and be able to demonstrate applied relevant experience that you’re ready to take lead in the role across responsibilities.

- Power BI development and administration.
- Building Analysis Services reporting models which are reusable.
- Developing visual reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards using Power BI desktop.
- Connecting to data sources, importing data, and transforming data for Business Intelligence.
- Excellent in analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports.
- Able to implement row level security on data and understand application security layer models in Power BI.
- Proficient in making DAX queries in Power BI desktop.
- Good skills, excellent at using advance level calculations on the data set.
- Responsible for design methodology and project documentation.
- Able to develop tabular and multidimensional models that are compatible with warehouse standards.
- Adept in developing, publishing, and scheduling Power BI reports as per the business requirements.
- Able to properly understand the business requirements and develop data models accordingly by taking care of the resources.
- Should have knowledge and experience in prototyping, designing, and requirement analysis.
- Able to integrate Power BI reports into other applications using embedded analytics like Power BI service (SaaS), or by API automation.
- Experienced in developing custom visuals for Power BI.
- Proven record of delivery of data and MI dashboards
- Data Warehousing and data factories, the applied use of.
- R and Python Integration and/or other “Add-Ons” experience
- Azure SQL Server/Synapse Analytics and or Database Design concepts
- Support Equality, Diversion and Inclusion and share VHG principles.
- Applied use of relevant language technology such as, (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
- TSQL / SQL
- DAX language
- SQL programming
- M Code
- Use of other transferable computer Language such as R/Python/Visual Basic/SAS will be good
Your soft and interpersonal skills will enable you to perform and work with a matrix team to;
- Build strong relationships in and outside of the team
- Requirements gathering
- Good presentations on data roadmaps, dashboards, and opportunities.
- Problem solving with stakeholders
- Demonstrable, excellent, and relevant experience problem and solution solving with Microsoft Power BI
- Automate and assist with reporting roll out using PowerBI
- Scope to assist on data projects with in Azure
