Part-time Payroll Advisor

The Role:

We have a great opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to join a busy team providing an efficient and accurate service to the business. This is a newly created part-time role to support company expansion and you will be involved in the full range of payroll activities.  (please note the £30k salary advertised is the Full Time equivalent)

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will help ensure each payroll is executed accurately and on time each month involving the preparation, processing and reconciliation of the monthly payrolls for over 1100 staff across three difference payment dates.  Processes, payments and deductions include starters, leavers, bonuses, overtime, statutory payments and deductions, unpaid leave, childcare vouchers, ad hoc changes and pensions.  You will liaise with employees regarding payroll related queries as well as acting as an escalation point for the Payroll Assistant.

 

Within this role you will also:

  • Work closely with our payroll / pension providers
  • Assist the Payroll Manager in Tax Year End processes
  • Deal with payroll queries from the Payroll Assistant, staff, managers and third parties
  • Carry out manual payment calculations
  • Assist in the processing of yearly Basic Earnings Assessments
  • Support with other tasks as required
  • Assisting with any training required by Payroll Assistant

 

 

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 4 – 5 years’ experience working in a high volume, fast paced payroll environment
  • Grade C or above GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Strong mathematical skills

Experience of using Payroll databases

  • Demonstrable experience of carrying out Manual Payment Calculations (Tax, NIC, Student Loan, Pensions)
  • Intermediate level or above in Microsoft office (specifically word, outlook and excel)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, work within a team and meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service/communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal English

Willingness to travel, which may include overnight stays on occasion, as and when required

 

Desirable:

CIPP qualification

  • Knowledge of NHS Pensions and T&Cs
  • Experience working with multiple payrolls

Experience of using HR databases
