Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

Here at Vita Health Group we are excited to have been given the opportunity by University Of Hull to submit applications for funded places on the Post Graduate Diploma in High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Training.

This is a 12-month course starting in March 2022. This will require University attendance 2 days per week, the logistics of such attendance will be discussed with your line manager on receipt of application. For 3 days of the week you will be working within the PTS service managing a caseload. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the initial delivery of this course will be remote, however dependent on Government changes there is a strong likelihood that you will be required to attend the University.  They have currently stipulated that face to face learning will be in blocks at the start of each term and will offer accommodation to those attending at a subsidised fee.

The PGDIP meets the national competencies for IAPT Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and is a mandatory requirement for newly qualified CBT clinicians. The course consists of units on the following themes

1. Fundamentals of CBT

2. CBT for anxiety disorders

3. CBT for depression

The course is designed to support trainees in developing their levels of CBT competency and to be able to work with clients who experience common mental health problems. The training will enable students to be able to deliver CBT treatments at Step 3 of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) Stepped care approach.

Assessment methods include essay, case studies, seminar presentations, literature review and recorded clinical simulations.  You are also required to submit practice supervision and clinical hours records. Prior to applying, please discuss with your Line manager.

Candidates who have previously been enrolled and not completed a funded HIPI IAPT training course must provide evidence and reference from the previous HEI about extenuating circumstances that lead to withdrawal from the course.  Previously funded applicants who have withdrawn without extenuating circumstance, or who have been excluded from a HIPI course, are not eligible to apply.
