Have you considered training in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

and getting paid to make a real difference?

If so, our Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner programme could be the role for you!

Here at Vita Health Group, we support each of our trainees to become confident, patient-focused clinicians. We work with you to develop your clinical skills throughout your course, celebrating your successes and encouraging your professional development.

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (Trainee PWP) to join our expanding Talking Therapies service operating across Calderdale.

Getting to know Us

Hello! We are Vita Health Group – we are one of the lead providers of NHS Talking Therapies services across Calderdale, providing vital mental health support to clients within the practice area. We are super proud of the work we do at Step 2 and see the life-changing impact of our practice every single day!

We really do practice what we preach here at Vita, with a company-wide focus on staff wellbeing, a flexible and creative approach to work and a real culture of openness and support. We love to see our colleagues thrive and achieve their personal goals, so we place a real emphasis on quality supervision and rich CPD.

The Role

In this role, you will provide Low Intensity CBT-based interventions whilst undertaking the PG Certificate Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners delivered by the University of Sheffield commencing 9th March 2026. This training post will equip you with the skills and knowledge to provide evidence-based treatment to clients with a range of common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

You will be joining a motivated team of mental health professionals and experienced supervisors, who will support you to complete both your academic study and your clinical delivery.

A typical working week includes 4 days of clinical practice with the service and 1 day attending university. University days will be face-to-face teaching.

Course information can be found here: https://sheffield.ac.uk/clinicalpsychology/programmes/nhs-talking-therapies-anxiety-and-depression/pwp

Whilst your clinical practice is likely to include some remote working, you will be required to attend our Halifax office for one day per week.

These are 12 month fixed-term positions with a start date of 9th March 2026 for induction with the University of Sheffield. There will be a service induction with Vita starting 23rd March.

After completing the training and becoming a qualified PWP, there may be an opportunity to apply for a permanent PWP post and contribute to an experienced and innovative service.

  • All candidates who hold a visa should ensure that their visa permits the right to work and study in the UK. As the course incorporates both work and study, it is the University’s understanding that both the Student visa and the Graduate Route visa prevent candidates from completing both elements of the course without breaching their visa conditions:
  • The Student visa is bound by Student visa work conditions which would not allow the candidate to work in the full time permanent position required by the service.
  • The Graduate Route visa does not permit the level of study associated with the course.
  • There may also be restrictions on other visa types. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure their visa permits both work and study to the degree required by the course. Any candidate who is successful in obtaining a place on the course, but does not hold an appropriate visa, will not be permitted to register on the course.
  • If a candidate is unsure as to whether their visa permits both work and study, they should obtain independent advice from an authorised immigration adviser or legal professional.
