Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

Here at Vita Health Group we are excited to have been given the opportunity by Health Education England and the University of Sheffield to submit applications for two funded places on the Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions.

This is a 9-month course starting in October 2021 (date to be confirmed). This will require University attendance 1-2 days per week, the logistics of such attendance will be discussed with your line manager if you are successful at interview. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, although the initial delivery of the course may be remote, applicants must be able to attend the University in person, as this may change.

The PGcert meets the national competencies for IAPT psychological wellbeing practitioners and is a mandatory requirement for newly qualified PWP’s. The course consists of units on the following themes
1. Low Intensity Psychological Interventions for Mental Health
2. Values, Diversity and Context.

Assessment methods include essays, case studies, seminar presentations, literature review and recorded clinical simulations.  You are also required to submit practice supervision and clinical hours records. 

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Undergraduate degree or above (or evidence of ability to study successfully at level 6/ third year of undergraduate study)
  • Currently employed in a clinical role working within our Mental Health Service
  • Two years mental health working experience, including voluntary work or expertise gained by experience of mental health problems
  • Able to complete 80 hours of clinical patient contact during training subject to the course requirements
  • Able to complete 40 hours of clinical supervision during training subject to the course requirements
  • Able to attend University of Sheffield if required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

 

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with vulnerable people.
